Howard T. Alter

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Howard T. Alter founded AAM in April of 1992 with a vision of combining value based money management with non-custodial family office services for high net worth families.   He chairs the investment policy committee for the firm and works closely with client families on setting and achieving lifetime financial objectives.

Mr. Alter served on the Charles Schwab Advisory Board and has lectured at American Universities on financial strategy and portfolio management. He has been quoted in a number of publications including The Wall Street Journal, New York Daily News, and TheStreet.com.

He provides radio commentary for a number of stations across the United States and can be heard locally in New York on WCBS Radio 88.

Mr. Alter received his undergraduate degree in Finance from The George Washington University and holds a Masters in Business Administration from The New York University in Finance and International Business.  He has a particular research interest in the emotional aspects of money as it relates to life decisions and hopes to publish a book on the topic in the future. Mr. Alter has significant community interests and has served in leadership roles for various not-for-profit organizations.  He enjoys long distance running and has completed numerous marathons including those held in New York City, Chicago, San Diego, and Quebec, Canada.  He also loves baseball history.

Mr. Alter has been involved in coaching youth sports. He most recently served as head coach for a New Jersey Junior Olympic Softball Program which won a State Champion for two consecutive years and finished among the top ten programs in the nation.

Mr. Alter considers his greatest achievement to be his family. He has been married for twenty years to his wife Nancy, and they have three children together. The Alter family has resided in Princeton Junction for two decades.
